Portfolio Future Value Calculator
Portfolio Future Value CalculatorEstimate the Future Value of Multiple Investments
Property is often considered a significant long-term investment. However, understanding actual returns requires more than comparing purchase price with expected sale value. Factors such as expenses, rental income, loan costs, and holding period may impact the final outcome.
The Hexo Wealth Property Return Calculator helps estimate Property XIRR, profit or loss, income and expenses, purchase and sale costs, loan impact, final property wealth, mutual fund comparison, and year-wise performance. It supports Self-Use Property and Rental/Hosting Property scenarios.
The results are illustrative estimates based on entered assumptions and should not be considered guarantees of future property values, income, or investment returns. Actual outcomes may vary depending on market conditions, expenses, and individual circumstances.
Why Use a Portfolio Future Value Calculator?
Many investors know the current value of individual investments but may not know what those investments could collectively amount to in the future.
What could my combined portfolio be worth in the future?
How much of the projected value comes from existing investments?
How may regular contributions influence the outcome?
What may be the impact of increasing contributions annually?
How do different return and tenure assumptions affect the projection?
Which assets contribute the largest estimated share of the future value?
Understanding the Calculator Inputs
01
Number of Assets
The Number of Assets determines how many different investments you want to include in the calculation. You can add multiple asset types, each with its own investment details, allowing the calculator to provide a more comprehensive view of your portfolio’s potential future value instead of evaluating each investment separately.
02
Asset Type
03
Starting Portfolio Value
04
SIP or Contribution Amount
05
Contribution Frequency
The calculator allows contributions at monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annual intervals. The selected frequency determines how often each contribution is added to the investment projection throughout the selected tenure.
06
SIP or Contribution Step-Up
07
Investment Tenure
This represents the number of years for which an asset is projected. Different assets may have different tenures, while the overall portfolio projection continues until the longest tenure. Assets with shorter tenures stop receiving contributions and growing after their selected period.
08
Expected Return (p.a.)
This is the annual return assumption used to estimate an asset’s future value. The calculator may provide a pre-filled rate based on the selected asset type, which users can change. The rate is illustrative, not a recommendation or guarantee, and accepted values range from 1% to 20%. Actual returns may be lower, zero or negative, especially for market-linked investments.
How Does the Portfolio Future Value Calculator Work?
The calculator estimates each asset’s future value using the Starting Portfolio Value, contribution amount and frequency, selected Step-Up, investment tenure and Expected Return assumption.
The annual return is converted into an equivalent rate based on the contribution frequency, with contributions added during each period and Step-Ups applied annually from Year 2. Individual asset projections are then combined to estimate the overall future portfolio value, which continues until the longest selected asset tenure.
Benefits of Using a Portfolio Future Value Calculator

08
View projected asset-wise share – Understand each asset’s contribution to the final portfolio value with improved allocation clarity.
What Does the Calculator Show?
Total Future Portfolio Value
This represents the combined estimated future value of all assets at the end of the overall projection period. It reflects the starting values, future contributions, selected tenures and Expected Return assumptions entered in the calculator.
Total Invested
This represents the combined Starting Portfolio Values and all projected future contributions across the selected assets. It includes both existing investments and future contributions, rather than only the amount invested during the projection period.
Estimated Portfolio Gain
This represents the difference between the Total Future Portfolio Value and Total Invested. It provides an illustrative estimate of potential investment growth based on the selected assumptions and should not be considered a guaranteed return or actual investment gain.
Assets Added
This indicates the total number of assets included in the consolidated portfolio projection. It helps users understand how many individual investments contribute to the combined future value calculated over the selected projection period.
Individual Asset Summary
The calculator displays the Starting Portfolio Value, Total Contributions, Estimated Gain and Future Value for each asset entered. This breakdown helps users understand the projected growth of individual investments and their contribution to the overall estimated portfolio value.
Portfolio Insights
The calculator generates automated observations based on the asset values, contributions, investment tenures and Expected Return assumptions entered. These insights explain the mathematical projection and should not be interpreted as investment recommendations, allocation advice, diversification assessments or suitability evaluations.
Portfolio Growth Projection
The growth chart illustrates how the combined estimated portfolio value may change throughout the overall projection period. It reflects the selected contribution schedules, investment tenures and constant return assumptions, which may differ significantly from actual year-to-year market movements.
Asset Share at the End of the Tenure
This shows the estimated percentage of the total future portfolio value contributed by each asset at the end of its projection period. It reflects the assumptions entered and should not be treated as a recommended asset allocation or an indication of suitable investment proportions.
Who Should Use This Calculator?
This calculator is useful for investors who want to estimate future portfolio growth, compare multiple assets, plan regular contributions and understand how investment tenure, Step-Ups and expected returns may affect their overall portfolio value.
- — Long-term investors
- — Individuals holding multiple investments
- — Goal-based investors
- — Retirement-focused investors
- — Investors exploring regular or Step-Up contributions
- — Individuals seeking a consolidated portfolio projection
Common Portfolio Projection Mistakes
Looking at Investments Only in Isolation
Reviewing each asset separately may make it difficult to understand the estimated combined future value.
Using Unrealistic Return Assumptions for Investments
Higher assumed returns can significantly increase the projected value, but actual returns may be lower, zero or negative.
Assuming Returns Will Remain Constant
The calculator uses a constant annual return assumption, while actual market-linked investments may fluctuate from year to year.
Ignoring Future Contribution Changes Over Time
Contributions may change because of income, expenses, priorities or personal circumstances over the investment period.
Treating Projected Asset Share as Recommended Allocation
The asset-wise share is only the result of the values and assumptions entered. It does not indicate an appropriate or suitable allocation.
Ignoring Costs, Taxes and Product Conditions
Taxation, investment expenses, exit loads, transaction charges, liquidity restrictions and other product-specific conditions may affect actual outcomes.
Understand Your Portfolio Projection More Clearly
Your Portfolio Future Value Calculator result is based on current inputs and assumptions. Actual contributions, returns, taxes, costs, market conditions, and personal circumstances may vary over time.
Changes in asset allocation, duration, contributions, and return assumptions may impact the final projection. Review investments based on your goals, risk profile, and financial needs.
Understanding Hexo Wealth’s Role
A Portfolio Future Value Calculator can help combine multiple investments into one mathematical projection. However, it does not determine whether an asset allocation is suitable, recommend an asset class or confirm that a financial goal will be achieved.

Any pre-filled Expected Return shown for an asset type is an editable assumption provided solely for illustration. It should not be considered a recommended, expected or guaranteed return and is not based on the performance of any specific mutual fund scheme or investment product.
The fixed calculator accepts positive return assumptions between 1% and 20%. Actual investment returns may be lower, zero or negative and may fluctuate considerably during the selected period.
The calculator assumes that the Expected Return entered for each asset remains constant throughout its selected tenure. Actual investment returns may vary from year to year and may differ materially from the illustration.
