Hexo Money Maps: See Your Financial Picture in One Place
Bring the Different Pieces of Your Money Together: Most families have a general idea of what they earn, spend, invest, and owe, but this information is often spread across bank accounts, investments, loans, properties, and everyday expenses. Looking at each financial piece separately can make it difficult to understand how everything connects. Hexo Money Maps is a financial awareness, organisation, and discussion tool that brings your current income, expenses, regular investments, assets, and liabilities together in one structured view. It creates a snapshot of your cash flow, Net Worth, Emergency Fund coverage, debt position, and analysed Asset Allocation, along with an indicative Money Map Score. The purpose is not to predict your financial future, but to help you understand your current financial picture more clearly.
Understand Your Emergency Fund
Not every asset necessarily forms part of an Emergency Fund. Money Maps allows you to identify which recorded assets should be considered towards the Emergency Fund and select what percentage of each asset should be included. This helps create a more relevant view of the funds that may be available for unexpected financial needs. The selected assets can provide a clearer picture of readily available resources. It also helps distinguish liquid resources from assets that may not be suitable for immediate use.
The tool then compares the identified Emergency Fund with Regular Expenses to estimate the number of months of expense coverage available. This provides an indicative liquidity measure based on the assets and percentages selected by the user. The result can help you understand your current level of short-term financial preparedness. It should be viewed as an indicative assessment rather than a guarantee of future financial security.

Understanding the Money Map Score
Money Maps generates an indicative Money Map Score out of 10 after the required information has been entered. The score considers four key areas: Cashflow Sustainability (35%), Asset Allocation / Diversification (20%), Debt Management (20%), and Emergency Fund (25%). The score is designed to help organise discussions around the family’s current cashflow and balance-sheet position. It is not a universal measure of financial success and should not be considered in isolation.
Understanding Your Score
Money Map Score
For working individuals, the Cashflow component evaluates Expense Ratio, Investment Ratio, and Surplus Ratio. These indicators provide an indicative view of income management and how effectively the available surplus is allocated towards investments and financial goals.
Cashflow Health
For Working Individuals
For working individuals, the Cashflow part evaluates key indicators such as Expense Ratio, Investment Ratio, and Surplus Ratio. These factors help provide an indicative view of how income is being managed and how wisely the available surplus is being allocated towards investments and future goals.
Retirement Cashflow Coverage
For Retired Individuals
For retired individuals, Money Maps focuses on Retirement Cashflow Coverage, comparing current monthly inflows with current monthly expenses. This provides an indicative view of cashflow adequacy but does not determine whether the retirement corpus will last throughout retirement.
Map Your Income & Expenses
Most basic lumpsum calculators estimate investment growth using three primary inputs: the investment amount, investment period, and expected annual return. The Hexo Wealth Lumpsum Growth Calculator goes beyond these basic inputs by allowing you to consider additional factors that may arise during your investment journey, providing a more comprehensive illustration of potential portfolio growth.
01
Build a Monthly Cashflow View
Enter different income sources and expenses using the frequency in which they actually occur. Money Maps supports Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Half Yearly, and Annually frequencies. The tool converts these amounts into monthly equivalents so that different cashflows can be viewed on a common basis. The Monthly Cashflow Snapshot then brings together Income, Regular Expenses, Investments, and Monthly Surplus or Deficit, making it easier to understand how current income is being distributed across lifestyle expenses and investment
02
Core Expenses
Money Maps also allows relevant expenses to be marked as Core Expenses, representing expenses that are expected to continue as part of the family lifestyle during retirement. The remaining non-investment expenses are shown as Other Regular Expenses, helping provide a clearer view of ongoing and discretionary spending. These classifications are intended as discussion aids and can be changed by the user based on their circumstances and planning needs.
03
Track Multiple Income Sources
Money Maps allows you to record different sources of income separately, helping you understand how each source contributes to your overall monthly cashflow. You can include salary, business, rental income, pensions, or other regular sources. Each income source can be recorded according to its actual frequency. The tool converts these amounts into monthly equivalents for easier comparison. This provides a clearer view of your total income position.
See Your Asset Allocation Snapshot
Money Maps groups selected assets into categories such as:
- Cash & Bank Holdings
- Debt & Fixed Income
- Equity & Market-Linked Assets
- Precious Metals
- Real Estate
- Other Estate
You can decide which assets should be included in Asset Allocation Analysis. For example, a self-occupied home or personal-use vehicle may be recorded as part of Net Worth while being excluded from the Asset Allocation analysis. The resulting snapshot helps show how the analysed assets are distributed and whether a significant concentration is visible in one category.
Bring Your Assets & Liabilities Together
The next step is to record the family’s current assets and outstanding liabilities.
- Total Assets
- Total Liabilities
- Net Worth
- Emergency Fund
- Emergency Fund Coverage
- Asset Allocation
Net Worth is calculated as Total Assets − Total Liabilities. It is shown as a factual calculation and is not itself scored as good or bad. For liabilities, the current outstanding amount should be entered rather than the original loan amount.
