Net− worth Calculator

Hexo Net Worth CalculatorUnderstand What You Own, What You Owe & What Remains

You may own a house, have investments, bank deposits and retirement savings. But does knowing the value of these assets tell you your complete financial position?

Not quite. Your outstanding home loan, other borrowings and financial liabilities are equally important.

At Hexo Wealth, we believe understanding your financial position begins with looking at what you own and what you owe together.

The Hexo Net Worth Calculator brings your assets and liabilities into one organised view. It helps you calculate your current Net Worth, understand where your wealth is held and see how much of your asset base is supported by borrowings.

The purpose is to give you a clearer picture of where you stand financially today, not to predict future wealth or investment returns.

Build Your Net Worth View

01

Start With Your Details

Begin by entering your name, date of birth, city, life stage, currency and report date. Select whether you are Working or Retired. You can also include up to three family members. The report date is important because Net Worth represents your financial position at a particular point in time. Try to use asset values and outstanding liability balances that reflect that date.

02

Record What You Own

Enter the current values of assets owned by you and your family. These may include bank balances, fixed deposits, mutual funds, shares, provident funds, real estate, gold, business interests and other assets. Use their current values rather than original purchase prices or amounts invested. For example, if you purchased a property for ₹50 lakh and its estimated current value is ₹85 lakh, enter ₹85 lakh.

03

Record What You Owe

Next, enter your outstanding loans and liabilities. These may include home loans, vehicle loans, personal loans, education loans, business loans, secured borrowings and credit card outstanding balances. For loans, enter the current outstanding principal, not the original sanctioned amount, monthly EMI or total future repayments. This ensures your Net Worth reflects what you currently owe.

04

Review Your Results

Once you enter your details, the Hexo Net Worth Calculator displays your Total Assets, Total Liabilities, Net Worth, Debt-to-Asset Ratio, Asset Allocation, Liability Breakdown and automated Net Worth observations. These results help you understand the total value of your recorded wealth and how it is distributed across different assets and liabilities.

Understand Your Asset Categories

Cash & Bank Holdings

Include cash and balances held in savings accounts, current accounts and other bank accounts, including NRE and NRO accounts. Enter the available balances as of your report date to reflect your recorded cash and bank holdings accurately. Ensure all relevant accounts are included to avoid understating your total assets. Do not include the same balance under multiple entries, as this may overstate your recorded Net Worth.

Debt & Fixed Income

Record current balances or values of debt mutual funds, fixed deposits, recurring deposits, EPF, GPF, PPF, Sukanya Samriddhi Account, Senior Citizens' Savings Scheme, National Savings Certificates, Kisan Vikas Patra, bonds, NCDs, treasury bills, government securities and other fixed income holdings. These holdings are grouped for balance sheet reporting, but their risks, returns, withdrawal conditions and accessibility can differ significantly.

Equity & Market-Linked Assets

Include equity mutual funds, listed shares, international investments, NPS, PMS, AIFs, REITs, InvITs, employee stock benefits and unlisted equity. Record their current values while recognising differences in underlying exposures, valuation methods and withdrawal restrictions. For employee stock benefits, include only vested or owned benefits that you intend to count, and avoid counting the same shares twice.

Precious Metals

Record the current value of gold, silver and other precious metal holdings, including ETFs, funds, coins, bars, jewellery and Sovereign Gold Bonds. Use a reasonable current valuation for physical holdings. Remember that actual sale proceeds may differ due to purity, making charges, deductions and prevailing market prices.

Real Estate

Include the estimated current value of your primary residence, secondary residential property, commercial property, land, agricultural land and other real estate. Your self-occupied house forms part of your Net Worth, even if you do not intend to sell it. However, owning valuable property does not mean equivalent funds are readily available to spend or invest. Property valuations are estimates entered by you and are not independently verified by the calculator.

Other Assets

Include business ownership or partnership interests, vehicles, insurance policy cash or surrender values, loans or money receivable, collectibles, artwork, crypto holdings and other assets. The calculator allows custom entries and category adjustments where appropriate. Include only assets for which you can establish a reasonable current value, recognising that some holdings may be difficult to value or sell.

Enter Asset Values Correctly

Investments

Enter the current value of your investment holdings, not the amount originally invested or contributed every month. For example, if your mutual fund portfolio is currently worth ₹15 lakh, enter ₹15 lakh rather than your monthly SIP amount. Use the latest available valuation to reflect your holdings as of the selected report date.

Vehicles

Use the current depreciated value or a reasonable resale estimate for cars and other vehicles. The original purchase price may no longer represent their present value. Consider the vehicle's age, condition, mileage and prevailing resale prices when estimating its current worth.

Insurance Policies

Include only the applicable current fund value, cash value or surrender value of an insurance policy. Do not enter your life insurance Sum Assured as an asset, as it represents insurance coverage rather than money currently owned by you. Use the value relevant to your policy type and avoid counting the same amount under multiple categories.

Business Ownership

If you own a business or hold a partnership interest, enter a reasonable current estimate of the value attributable to your ownership. Business turnover, annual revenue and monthly business income should not be treated as the value of your ownership. Consider the business's financial position and your share of its estimated value when recording this asset.

Money Receivable

If you have lent money or are entitled to receive an amount, record the relevant receivable as an asset. Money that you owe someone else belongs under liabilities. Consider the amount expected to be recovered and avoid including doubtful or already-received amounts as outstanding receivables.

Other Personal Assets

Include other valuable assets, such as jewellery, collectibles, artwork or personal belongings, where a reasonable current value can be established. Use an estimated resale value rather than the original purchase price, and avoid recording items already included under another asset category.

Bring Your Liabilities Together

The calculator provides separate entries for Home Loan, Vehicle Loan, Personal Loan, Education Loan, Business Loan, Loan Against Property, Loan Against Securities, Gold Loan, Credit Card or Revolving Outstanding, Other Secured Loan and Other Unsecured Loan. You can also add custom liability entries. For example, if your original home loan was ₹50 lakh and the outstanding balance is now ₹32 lakh, enter ₹32 lakh. The calculator uses the outstanding balances you provide and does not calculate future interest, repayment schedules or EMI affordability.

How Is Net Worth Calculated?

Net Worth = Total Assets − Total Liabilities
Your Net Worth is the difference between the value of everything you have recorded as assets and everything you have recorded as liabilities.

Particulars Recorded Value
Total Assets ₹1,20,00,000
Total Liabilities ₹35,00,000
Net Worth ₹85,00,000

In this example, the family’s recorded assets are worth ₹1.20 crore, with outstanding liabilities of ₹35 lakh.

The resulting Net Worth is ₹85 lakh.

However, an ₹85 lakh Net Worth does not necessarily mean the family has ₹85 lakh available for immediate use. A significant portion could be held in property, retirement accounts or other assets that are not easily accessible.

Positive Net Worth

Positive Net Worth means the value of recorded assets exceeds outstanding liabilities. This tells you that your recorded assets are worth more than what you owe. However, the nature, liquidity and accessibility of those assets also matter when assessing your financial position.

Negative Net Worth

Negative Net Worth means recorded liabilities exceed the value of recorded assets. Before interpreting the result, review your entries carefully. Missing assets, outdated valuations or incorrect loan balances can affect the calculation.

Zero Net Worth

Zero Net Worth means the total value of recorded assets equals total recorded liabilities. It reflects the balance between what you own and owe as of the selected report date.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

Enter Complete Information

Include all relevant assets and outstanding liabilities. Missing an investment, property, bank balance or loan can materially change your calculated Net Worth and asset allocation.

Use Current Values

Enter values reflecting your selected report date as closely as possible. Original purchase prices may not represent the current value of property, investments, vehicles or other assets.

Avoid Double Counting

Record each asset and liability only once. Pay particular attention to jointly owned properties, employee shares and investments that may appear across multiple statements or categories.

Record Assets & Loans Separately

Suppose your house is currently worth ₹80 lakh and you have an outstanding home loan of ₹30 lakh. Enter ₹80 lakh under assets and ₹30 lakh under liabilities. Do not enter only the property's net value of ₹50 lakh and then record the ₹30 lakh loan again. Doing so would deduct the loan twice.

Review Estimated Valuations

Assets such as real estate, business interests, jewellery, vehicles and collectibles may not have readily available market values. Use reasonable estimates and remember that actual sale proceeds may differ because of market conditions, taxes, transaction costs and other factors.

Read Net Worth Alongside Liquidity

A high Net Worth does not necessarily mean you have enough money readily available for everyday needs or financial emergencies. A family may own valuable properties or business interests but hold relatively little in accessible financial assets. Understanding where wealth is held is therefore just as important as knowing its total value.

Understand How Your Information Is Stored

The Hexo Net Worth Calculator is designed to store entered financial values locally in your browser unless you choose to export or share a backup. When you access the PDF report, the report-access form separately submits your name, mobile number, calculator name, timestamp and page URL. These details are separate from the financial values used to calculate your Net Worth. Exported reports and data backups may contain personal financial information. Review their contents before deciding to share them.

Important Net Worth Calculator DisUnderstand Your Debt-to-Asset Ratio

The Debt-to-Asset Ratio is calculated as: Total Liabilities ÷ Total Assets × 100 This ratio shows how much you owe relative to the value of your recorded assets. For example, if your assets are worth ₹1 crore and your outstanding liabilities total ₹25 lakh, your Debt-to-Asset Ratio is 25%. In simple terms, for every ₹100 of assets, you have ₹25 in recorded liabilities, leaving ₹75 as Net Worth. The ratio helps you understand the relationship between your borrowings and assets. However, it does not indicate whether your EMIs are affordable. That also depends on income, expenses, interest rates, repayment schedules and other financial commitments. The ratio requires a positive asset value. If no assets are recorded, the calculator cannot meaningfully calculate this percentage.

  1. Two families may have the same Net Worth but hold their wealth in very different forms.

  2. One may have most of its assets in real estate, while another may hold a larger portion in financial investments and deposits.

  3. The Asset Allocation chart helps you understand this distribution.

  4. It shows the current recorded value and percentage share of assets across six categories.

  5. You can hover over or select a chart segment or legend entry to see the individual holdings contributing to each category.

  6. For example, if Real Estate represents 60% of your total assets, it means ₹60 out of every ₹100 of recorded assets is held in property.

  7. This view includes personal-use assets such as your home and vehicle, not just investments.

  8. It helps you understand the composition of your total assets, but does not recommend an ideal asset allocation or assess investment suitability.

View Your Family's Financial Position Together

The calculator offers Single Currency Mode, where all assets and liabilities are recorded in one selected currency for a consistent Net Worth view. For families with assets or liabilities across different countries, Multiple Currency Mode supports up to three currencies and consolidates all values into a selected Default Currency. Users must manually enter the applicable conversion rates and specify the “Rates as of” date, as the calculator does not automatically retrieve live exchange rates. If a required conversion rate is missing, the calculator identifies the unresolved conversion so it can be completed before calculating the consolidated Net Worth. Users should review currency assignments, conversion rates, and dates carefully before interpreting the combined results.
